With VoIPVoIP, you are no longer tied to your "local area code". Our phone service is available nationwide , so choose a new number in your local calling area or select a number anywhere else in the country for free.
If you are located in US, you don't have to lose your phone number if you change phone companies. If VoIPVoIP offers phone numbers in a city or town near you there's a good chance you can keep your existing phone number if you switch to VoIPVoIP.
This is called Local Number Portability (LNP) and with VoIPVoIP it is FREE.
Porting your US (PSTN, Wireless, Toll Free) number to our service is an effortless and easy task with VoIPVoIP and it takes only (10) business days to complete.
This feature is available for only US phone numbers and it's FREE of charge.
To port your phone number first you need to buy a US phone number from us, which would be replaced with ported number at the end of the process.
You can buy US phone number while signing up for VoIPVoIP account choosing a phone number with the area code of the number you want to port. If you are already VoIPVoIP customer you can buy the phone number by logging to My Account and then "Buy Phone Number" link.
Once you buy a phone number with the same area code of the number you want to transfer, you need to open a ticket for our customer support.
In order to open a Help Ticket to port your number;
1. Login to My Account.
2. Click on "Help Desk " and then "Submit New Ticket " link
3. Enter a message requesting phone number transfer with the phone number information as well as;
- the registered name and address for this phone number
- the current provider name
- the last 4 digits of your SSN
- the Account number and PIN (if a wireless number)
4. Click on "Submit" button.
Your ticket will be responded by a VoIPVoIP customer care representative in 24 hours. It takes about (10) business days to complete the porting process once we reply you via ticket informing you that the porting process has begun. VoIPVoIP will keep you informed of the transfer process via email along the way.
Note : Do not cancel your phone service with your current provider until the porting process is completed. Once you start the porting process you cannot cancel the process but when the porting is completed you can port the number to another provider.
DSL subscribers have a special situation because you must keep their existing phone numbers to maintain a high-speed connection to VoIP VoIP. In this instance, we would suggest either transferring your DSL service to another phone line with your current carrier, or you can switch to Cable Internet instead of DSL. We work well either way!
If VoIPVoIP cannot transfer your number, you may choose to get a new phone number in your area or elsewhere. Or, you may decide to keep your existing phone number with minimal service and add a phone number that will help you save on outgoing calls.
